What can you say about a girl who misspent her youth looking for junk?? By junk we mean the good stuff-- you know, bits and bobs, doodads, other peoples trinkets and trash. What happens next? Girl grows up…Girl opens shop to share her stuff with the world.

And so, Megan Morrison Home & Garden was born in April of 2000. The good people of DeKalb welcomed Megan with open arms and open minds, and soon a wonderful relationship was formed. MMHG quickly became known for its quirky mix of vintage finds and great gifts displayed in unusual and interesting ways. After 5 fun years of trying to fit 5000 sq ft. of goodies into an 1800 sq foot shop the proverbial light bulb moment happened.

Aah haah she thought…what if I buy that huge old department store building with the leaky roof across the street. The one that has been sitting empty for years, but was once filled with life. And what if I with the help of family and friends could bring the forgotten old building back to its former glory. That would be great right? Absolutely, and that reminds me of a quote which seems to pop up in my life over and over again.

“ That which does not kill you only makes you stronger.”

Perhaps undertaking the total gutting and rebuilding of a 100 year old building was foolhardy considering the monumental scope of the project and our very limited resources, but in the end after 9 long months of ups and downs Megan Morrison Home & Garden had a brand spanking new sister to be proud of. Sister store to be exact.

Courage combined with inventiveness is our definition of moxie, and it’s this pioneering spirit which shines thru in our product selection and merchandising style. moxie offers 8000 sq ft of the most random, quirky, beautiful, interesting, useful and unpredictable goods around. Including: clothing-vintage and new, baby gifts, stuff for kids of all ages, gourmet foods and kitchen gadgets, art, home accents, books and music, and jewelry.
